In the past, the wheel hub bearings used to be paired with single row tapered rollers or ball bearings. With the development of technology, car hub unit has been widely used. Hub bearing unit has been used more and more widely, and now it has developed to the third generation: the first generation is composed of double row angular contact bearings. The second generation has a flange on the outer raceway for fixing the bearing, which can simply fix the bearing sleeve to the axle with a nut. Make car maintenance easier. The third generation hub bearing unit adopts the combination of bearing unit and ABS of anti-lock braking system. The hub unit is designed with inner flange and outer flange. The inner flange is fixed on the drive shaft with bolts, and the outer flange installs the whole bearing together. Weared or damaged hub bearings or hub units can cause inappropriate and costly failure of your vehicle on the road, and even harm your safety. In the use and installation of hub bearings, you should pay attention to the following matters: 1. In order to ensure safety and reliability to the greatest extent, it is recommended that you check the hub bearings regularly regardless of the age of the vehicle. Attention should be paid to the early warning signals of bearing wear, including friction noise during any rotation or abnormal deceleration of suspension combined wheels during turning. For rear-wheel-driven vehicles, it is recommended that the front hub bearings should be lubricated when the vehicle runs to 38,000 kilometers. When replacing the brake system, check the bearing and replace the oil seal. 2. If you hear the noise from the hub bearing, first of all, it is important to find the location where the noise occurs. There are many moving parts that may produce noise, or some rotating parts may come into contact with non-rotating parts. If the noise in the bearing is confirmed, the bearing may be damaged and need to be replaced. 3. Because the working conditions of the front hub leading to bearing failure on both sides are similar, even if only one bearing is damaged, it is recommended to replace it in pairs. 4. Hub bearings are more sensitive. In any case, correct methods and appropriate tools are needed. In the process of storage, transportation and installation, the bearing parts can not be damaged. Some bearings require greater pressure, so special tools are needed. Be sure to refer to the manufacturer's manual. 5. Installation of bearings should be in a clean and tidy environment, fine particles into the bearings will also shorten the service life of bearings. It is very important to maintain a clean environment when replacing bearings. Hammers are not allowed to tap bearings. Be careful not to drop bearings on the ground (or similar improper handling). Before installation, the condition of the shaft and bearing seat should also be checked. Even minor wear and tear will lead to poor matching, which will lead to the early failure of the bearing. 6. For hub bearing units, do not attempt to disassemble or adjust the seal ring of hub bearing units, otherwise the seal ring will be damaged and water or dust will enter. Even the raceway of the sealing ring and inner ring is damaged, causing permanent failure of the bearing. 7. There is a magnetic thrust ring in the sealing ring with ABS bearing. The thrust ring can not be impacted, impacted or collided with other magnetic fields. Take them out of the box before installation and keep them away from the magnetic field, such as the motor or electric tool used. When installing these bearings, the ABS alarm needle on the instrument panel is observed through road condition test to change the operation of the bearings. 8. Hub bearing with ABS magnetic thrust ring. In order to determine which side the thrust ring is mounted, a small object can be used near the edge of the bearing, and the magnetic force generated by the bearing will attract it. When installed, one side of the magnetic thrust ring is pointed to the inside, which is sensitive to ABS. Note: Improper installation may lead to failure of brake system. 9. Many bearings are sealed, and no grease is required for such bearings throughout their life. Other unsealed bearings, such as double-row tapered roller bearings, must be greased and lubricated during installation. It is difficult to determine how much grease is added because of the different size of the inner chamber of the bearing. The most important thing is to ensure that there is grease in the bearing. If there is too much grease, when the bearing rotates, the excess grease will seep out. General experience: In installation, the total amount of grease should account for 50% of the bearing clearance. 10. When installing locking nuts, the magnitude of the torque varies greatly due to the different types of bearings and bearing seats.
